Catcher in the Rye

I decided to go with a book that exemplified a fashion forward era of time. I thought Catcher in the Rye was a perfect example. The book which was published in 1951 talks about a boys life within the late 1940s to 1950s. The clothes during that era were very sophisticated and very well put together. Dresses for girls included being long and poofy and the tye around the waist dress became popular during this time. Women did not show that much skin which really helped express womens true beauty. Men such as Holden Caulfied wore hats, letterman jackets, trench coats, flannels, button down shirts, button down sweaters and slacks. Hunting hats and fedoras were popular choices of hats. The Flannel "rage" began during this time, many men wore them. The style for men in the 1950s was very put together and charming. Bring back the 1950s boys and girls.

If a girl looks swell when she meets you, who gives a damn if she's late? Nobody.
